Two people were killed and 12 injured when a bus, travelling along Turfhall Road, veered off the side of a bridge in Landsdowne yesterday.
Cape Town police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after a woman and her baby died in a bus accident in Lansdowne yesterday.
The 28-year old woman and her 6-month old baby died when the bus they were travelling in plunged off a bridge and landed on its side.
The Golden Arrow bus swerved to avoid a taxi when it plunged several metres onto Landsdowne Road.
Rescue and emergency units worked for about 90 minutes to rescue the survivors.
Ten people were seriously injured while the driver and another passenger sustained minor injuries. This is said to be the fifth major bus accident in Cape Town this year.
Police Superintendent Andre Traut says the circumstances surrounding the accident are still being investigated but authorities suspect another vehicle may have been involved.
