A Woodstock man is set to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate Court today, on charges of attempted murder.

The male suspect, aged 19, allegedly shot a 17 year old teenager thrice at close range.
The victim sustained wounds to the side of his body and has not yet been discharged from hospital.

The possibility of the shooting may be gang-related.

Sergeant Hilton Malila, spokesperson for the Woodstock police said that it is alleged that the 19-year-old suspect took out a silver special revolver, walked up to the 17-year-old and fired several shots.

“The identity of the suspect was revealed during preliminary investigation at the scene.”
