A meeting between SARU’s President, Oregan Hoskins and SARPA’s chairman, Hennie Le Roux was held on Monday to discuss SARU’s decision to keep players not participating in local competitions from selection for National teams.

It was noted that SARPU should have been engaged prior to the decision having been made, regular and ongoing dialogue between the two parties and their relative components is also needed.

“Both parties reaffirmed the importance of focusing on the forthcoming Rugby World Cup, but agreed to seek common legal opinion regarding the rights of both parties with respect to the matter under consideration, says media manager of SA rugby, Rayaan Adriaanse.

The outcome of this legal opinion step will assist in determining future actions to be taken, either jointly or by the parties individually.
