The African Christian Democratic Party says it supports Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga’s announcement to overhaul the Outcomes Based Education system.
The party says the system brought down the country’s matric results in 2008 and 2009 and they were afraid it would be repeated again in 2010 if nothing was done about it.
“OBE has a disastrous track record and once again proved to be a failure as young people leave school totally unprepared for further education or to continue to contribute in the marketplace.” Cheryllyn Dudley said.
The ACDP welcomes the proposed changes which aim to ensure the workload on teachers and pupils is more realistic and expects the promised streamlining and simplification of the administrative system for teachers necessary to free up time for teaching to impact positively on future results.
