A 41-year-old man died after the car he was travelling in veered off the road and as he was trying to get help he was hit by an oncoming car.

The incident happened late on Sunday in Ottery Road, Grassy Park.

Captain FC van Wyk said it is alleged that his vehicle veered off the road and hit a nearby fence of a mosque.  While he was busy trying to get some help another vehicle appeared and hit him.

“He is alleged to have died on the scene and therefore we have opened a culpable homicide case for investigation” Van Wyk added.

No arrests have been made yet.
