Police who own taxis hamper peace efforts

Western Cape MEC of Transport and Public Works Robin Carlisle on Tuesday said he is concerned about allegations that there are some police officers who own and operate taxis especially in Delft. 

A march against the taxi violence is being planned for today. 

MEC Carlisle said it is illegal for officers to be in the taxi industry. 

Ministerial Spokesperson Robin Carlisle said these are very serious allegations that our being investigated kindly by the department whether they are true or not.

“If they are true a very concern to the very serious threat that may pose the process of establishing piece in the area,” Dube added.
