South African Informal Trader’s Forum said it has decided to take the City of Johannesburg to court regarding the removal of informal traders within the CBD.

SAITF Deputy Chairperson Pumulani Ndlovu said this action follows weeks of engagements with the City with the view of finding solutions to the illegal evictions of traders from their operational places.

Ndlovu said after various engagements with the City they promised to take the traders back but up until now they have failed to keep their promise.

He also said they have been served with a letter of demand and failure respond will result court action being taken.
