A male cyclist knocked down by taxi in Benoni

ER24 paramedics and other services responded to an accident scene whereby a male cyclist believed to be in his thirties was knocked down by a taxi on Vlei road in Benoni, Johannesburg East this morning.

Paramedics spokesperson Luyanda Majija said when they arrived at the scene they found the man in a critical but stable condition having sustained serious fractures to his leg and ribs as well as lacerations on his face.

Majija said the patient was immediately stabilised on scene and transported to OR Tambo Memorial Hospital for further medical care.

Exact cause of the collision is unclear but is under investigation.
