Barnard said specialised policing units have proven to be an effective
strategy.
Barnanrd said the South African

units such as the Anti-Gang Units remains their responsibility.

Government has repeatedly called upon the ANC government for the reintroduction
of the Anti Gang Units closed down by then National Police Commissioner,
Jackie Selebi. These calls have gone unheeded due
to this, thousands of community members continue to live a life in fear.”
Barnard added.
