Mine worker died at mine near Welkom

An employee of Harmony Gold died after he was conducting engineering maintenance work at the Unisel mine near Welkom.

The accident happened on Saturday and production was stopped immediately.

Harmony Gold’s Executive Corporate and Investor Relations Spokesperson Marian van der Walt said they have a stock production at the mine and investigation into the accident is underway.

Van der Walt said they would like to express their sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
