One died person and one seriously injured in an accident in Hilton

Netcare 911 paramedics and other services responded to an accident scene in Hilton this morning.

Netcare 911 Spokesperson Chris Botha said a female has tragically died while a man sustained serious injuries in a Roll-over.

Reports indicate that the vehicle left the roadway and rolled down a steep embankment before coming to rest on the railway line with the female pinned under the wreckage.

Botha added that when they arrived they found the female to have sustained life threatening injuries while the man was in a serious condition, both were in their twenties.

“Emergency personnel worked eagerly to save the critically wounded female for an extensive period, tragically though she died on scene due to the extensive injuries that she sustained. The seriously injured man was transported by ambulance to an area hospital in Pietermaritzburg for the care that he required.” Botha said.
