A tragic accident this morning
on the N5 near Bethlehem in the Free State left five people dead and two other
injured.
This is after a light motor
vehicle collided with a truck.
ER24 Spokesperson Russel
Meiring said ER24 paramedics arrived on scene and found the truck and light
motor vehicle sitting in the right lane of the road.
Meiring added that both
vehicles were caught alight. Fire services battle for some time to extinguish
both vehicles.
He emphasised that once the
fire was extinguished, paramedics discovered the burned bodies of three males
and two females lying trapped inside the light motor vehicle. Unfortunately all
five occupants had sustained fatal injuries.
“The driver of the truck had
sustained only minor injuries in the collision and was treated on scene.”
Meiring said.
The exact details to the cause of the accident will remain the subject of a police investigation.
