Economic Freedom Fighters has
condemned the purchasing of three VVIP jets for President Jacob Zuma, ministers
and deputy ministers. Inkwazi, the presidential jet will be supplemented by
three new VIP jets at a cost of R2-billion.
EFF’s National Spokesperson
Mbuyiseni Ndlozi said this money could have been invested in higher education tuition
fees.
He added that this is yet
another expenditure that demonstrates governments disregard for public resources.
“We think this is in fundamental
contradictions with the budget statement as given by the Minister of Finance
that our country faces a lot of fiscal challenges such that he delivered those
problems and resolve them so raising personally income tax, value tax and
generally taxes which are going to be carried by ordinary South Africans.
And also made a commitment on
cutting government spending on unnecessary things, only to find out that this
money that is being collected is going to buy President Zuma a lavish and
luxurious jet.” Ndlozi said.
