The African Christian Democratic Party in the Western Cape has welcomed the announcement by the provincial Department of Education to beef up security at several schools in the province over the holidays.

The WCED said it has increased security at 412 schools identified as high risk for vandalism and burglary.

ACDP Provincial Leader Ferlon Christians said schools are a state asset and must be protected, so this is a good initiative to have a 12hour security at the schools.

Ferlon said the WCED stated that they cannot give the location of the schools then it would give away their safety plans but the ACDP really appreciate this step by the WCED.
