Two people died and six injured in head-on collision in Mpumalanga

ER24 paramedics responded to an accident scene yeaterday after two vehicles collided head-on on the R40 outside of Hazyview, Mpumalanga, leaving two men dead and six others injured.

ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring said paramedics arrived on scene and found both vehicles on the side of the road. One of the vehicles was found 100 metres off into the veld.

Meiring added that when paramedics searched the vehicle in the bushes, they found the two lifeless bodies lying inside the vehicle. Unfortunately both occupants had sustained fatal injuries in the collision and were later declared dead.

“Six other patients were found on scene, two of them young children. Paramedics assessed the patients and found that they had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. The patients were treated for their injuries and thereafter transported them to various hospitals for further treatment.” Meiring said

Exact details to the cause of the collision will remain the subject of a police investigation.
