The Democratic Alliance is calling on the Minister of Basic Education Angie Motshekga to bring back those teachers who resigned because of the pension fund scandal and now want to return.

DA MP of Basic Education Annette Lovemore said in November alone about 4 600 teachers resigned and the minister must put the interest of the learner first.

Lovemore said many of those teachers now realize that they made a mistake and they want to come back to teaching, the minister is stopping them from doing so.

Lovemore said we are saying every child deserves a good teacher. If there are teachers who made a mistake and retired and need to be back in our classrooms, we need to get them back in our classrooms.

Lovemore said I will be writing to the minister to urge her to lift her block on the retired teachers returning to our schools.
