The Congress of South African Trade Unions is arranging a protest against the Cape Town Cup.

COSATU believes that the Cup is a waste of more than 30 million rand and only caters to the rich population in Cape Town while overlooking the poverty-stricken communities.

Tony Ehrenreich said there are so many urgent needs of people in the poor areas of Cape Town, especially during winter that has to be attended to by the City. But yet more than R30 million has been waste on the soccer game for only a few people.

Cosatu believes that this outage must be stopped and the money must be used to alleviate the plight of those section of the community that has been neglected by the DA.
