Dignity Dream and the Deputy Minister in the Presidency Buti Manamela reached their goal of providing 18 000 dignity packs on Nelson Mandela International Day.

The two joined together to challenge corporations to meet the needs of South Africa’s schoolgirls over a 67-day period.

The goal was to ensure that girls are kept in school and have access to safe and hygienic sanitary pads.

Matshepo Seedat said the goal was to raise sufficient funds to distribute 18 000 packs of Dignity Dream to girls who are unable to afford sanitary towels.

“The largest single donation was by the National Youth Development Agency which donated R200 000 which resulted in 1 248 sanitary towels. Ordinary South Africans also came on board contributing towards this call” Seedat added.

She concluded by saying that Grade 5 and 6 pupil of Glenstantia primary school and Grade 10 and 11 from St Dominic’s girl’s high school donated their pocket money towards the Dignity Dream packs.
