South Africa’s mining industry has seen a decrease in mineworker deaths last year.
The Chamber of Mines CEO, Bheki Sibiya says, "The 128 deaths is the lowest number since 2003.
He says that this shows that SA’s mining industry is making positive progress.
He also cautioned the country not to start celebrating as much work still needs to be done to ensure that every miner returns home safely after every shift.
