A woman has died in a Wendy house fire which broke out on Sunday afternoon in Bishop Lavis.
Police spokesperson Elliot Sinyangana says that it is unknown how the fire occurred.
“It is believed that there was an argument between the deceased and her estranged husband who visited her and it is also unknown when the husband left,” says Sinyangana.
Sinyangana said the couple were separated and it was believed the husband had visited his wife to discuss a reconciliation.
The woman however couldn’t escape the burning house in time and died on the scene.
“We have registered an inquest and arson docket. All possibilities will be investigated in this matter,” says Sinyangana.
