A service delivery protest on Vanguard Drive this morning resulted in several people being arrested after toilets and rubble was thrown on the street, blocking traffic for hours.

Over 100 people protested between Bonteheuwel and Epping for better living conditions in their area.

The Democratic Alliance has labelled the several protest actions which have taken place in the city as the African National Congress trying to make the province ungovernable.

Police Spokesperson Andre Traut said five people were arrested for public violence, the suspects will make a court appearance once they have been charged.

Traut said the situation in the area is being monitored and the road has been reopened.
