The believed sordid expenditure of Jacob Zuma and his Cabinet to purchase VIP jets worth two billion rand is of parley.

The Congress of the People calls on Zuma to stop the purchase and to reprioritise the expenditure to support the poor.

Cope’s spokesperson Dennis Bloem said COPE says this is unacceptable that President Zuma and his Cabinet want to spend two billion rand on buying new jets and living in luxury.

Bloem said: “People are dying because of hunger in our country and they are spending billions on flying up and down.”

Bloem added that this money can be spent better, such as creating jobs, providing food to eat and allowing school pupils to not be educated under trees.
