The Congress of South Africa Trade Unions supports the protest march, which will be held on Saturday from Rustenburg taxi rank to the Department of Labour.

“The purpose of the protest action is to continue to fight for the liberation of farm workers and farm dwellers as part of COSATU’s Job’s and Poverty programme,” says COSATU National spokesperson Patrick Craven.

According to Craven COSATU condemns strongly ten farms in the municipality of Zeerust that are practicing child labour.

“The farmers employ children between 12years and 10years to work in their farms, and that was confirmed by the Department of Education and the Mayor of Zeerust in public. We are therefore calling Department of Labour to act against all those farmers who must be prosecuted in terms of the law,” says Craven.
