Fire engines raced to Devils Peak on Table Mountain after a fire started in the area on Monday morning.
“The call was received at about 11:39am for the vegetation fire,” says City of Cape Town Fire Control, Sharon Bosch.
According to Bosch on their arrival they discovered that two separate fires had started on the mountain slopes.
“We’ve got currently two motor pumps as well as three water tankers on the scene,” says Bosch.
“At this stage we don’t know what the cause of the fire is, we will have to wait for an investigation team (who) will assist us,” she added
According to Bosch the fire is under control. From Salt River, a helicopter could be seen dumping water to douse the flames after 12:30pm.
