The Road Traffic Management Corporation today said dangerous overtaking is to blame for many of the accidents on the country’s roads.

A recent report released by the RTMC shows that from the 1st to the 18th of December there have been 564 fatal crashes and 676 fatalities on the country’s roads.

RTMC’s Ashref Ismail said before overtaking motorists should ask themselves three questions, (1) Is it legal?, (2) is it safe? (3) Is it worthwhile?

The report also showed that 1,115 people have been arrested and 44, 78 notices have been issued.

Motorists have been asked to keep a safe following distance and the lower the speed the higher the chances of a driver avoiding a hazard.
