Western Cape road deaths at one hundred and thirty

Western Cape Transport MEC Robin Carlisle has revealed that the province’s festive season road death toll has risen to around 130.

Carlisle said they have marked change in the nature of fatal road accidents.

He said there are fewer deadly collisions involving public transport vehicles.

The MEC said this indicates there are more deadly incidents where cars are involved.

Carlisle said that during December the high fatalities are not pedestrians or public transport but have in fact been ordinary motor cars and their passengers so of the 130 people that are dead, 76 were drivers and passengers.

Carlisle adds that this points out to irresponsible driving and people looking for an early end to their own lives and that of other people.
