Four men will appear in the Caledon Magistrate’s Court today after they were arrested by Fisheries Control Officers of the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and officials from Cape Nature last Thursday for contravening their permit conditions.

These men ignored the team’s warnings and entered the Betty’s Bay Marine Protected Area a no-fishing zone.

Their boat was confiscated in the operation.

Lionel Adendorf said the permit conditions clearly states that they are not allowed to fish in a marine protected area.

Adendorf called on all fishers to comply with the conditions of their permits.
