The Khayelitsha Commission of Inquiry is expected to resume its work during the month of February.

The Commission was established in August last year by Western Cape Premier Helen Zille to investigate police inefficiency in Khayelitsha.

The Commission was stopped after Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa had filed an interdict against it, but he was over ruled by the Western Cape High Court last week.

The Commission has asked for an extension of the deadline to August this year.

Premier Spokesperson Zak Mbhele said originally R6,5m had been allocated to be the maximum of the commission over a six month, and the Premier will look at the extension whether it can be accommodated within the budget.
