The Democratic Alliance is requesting that the executives of Air Chefs, a division of SAA to appear before Parliament to account for the wastage of R5 million of food per month.

DA Shadow Minister of Public Enterprises Natasha Michael said the DA welcomes the announcement by SAA Spokesperson Tlali Tlali that disciplinary action had already been instituted against a number of employers at Air Chefs.

Michael said the DA will be requesting that SAA must donate all food that is left over to those in need.

She added that the wastage incurred is not acceptable considering that in the country millions of children go hungry.
