The South African Democratic Teachers Union has welcomed the news of the scheduled re-opening of teacher training college in Mpumalanga.

Minister of Higher Education Blade Nzimande on Thursday said three more colleges will be opened in the New Year in KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo and the Eastern Cape.

Sadtu said the announcement is an answer to the pleas they have been making for many years.

Sadtu spokesperson Nomusa Cembi said as the college will open next, they would like to see the college contribute towards bringing quality education.

“Our education system requires highly qualified teachers for quality public education” she added.
