The Western Cape High Court on Wednesday granted the City of Cape Town an urgent interdict to prevent protesters from disrupting the MyCiTi bus service.

The City applied for an urgent interdict following a week of violent protests at MyCiTi stations along the T04 route in Dunoon and Joe Slovo.

Infrastructure was damaged and services disrupted, mayoral committee member for transport Brett Herron said in a statement. Further threats of attacks, and the intimidation of staff, contractors, and commuters, prompted the city to apply for court relief.
