The South African National Civic Organisation on Monday proposed a truth and reconciliation commission into racism and exploitation in farming communities. The Civic organisation's proposal follows the abandonment of the South African Human Rights Commission probe into claims that the Democratic Alliance leader in the Eastern Cape, Athol Trollip, mistreated his farmworkers.

He said “As SANCO in view of the latest incident, where the South African Human Rights Commission abended the probe and claim that the DA leader in the Eastern Cape mistreated his farmers”.

“We believe that the country should consider, as we propose as SANCO, a truth and Reconciliation mechanism should be invoked”.

He concluded by saying “Because there is a lot of victims in our farming community who have suffered through victimisation”.
