Police divers were on Sunday still searching for two children who went missing in the Richards Bay area on Saturday.

They had apparently been swimming in a lagoon when a third child raised the alarm when the other two disappeared in the water.

The two boys aged six and nine-years-old are believed to have drowned.
National Sea Rescue Institute spokesperson Craig Lambinon said

“The police divers are continuing with the search as we speak, the two children are still missing at this stage.

The problem with the search operation yesterday was because of the poor visibility in the water.

There are hopes that the kids will be found today, it is in the hands of the police diving unit.

It is an ongoing search operation now.

So all efforts are continuing to be employed to try to find them obviously for the sake of the family.

Sadly in this case they are presumed to have drowned but nonetheless the priority is to get the children back to their families.”
