A 50-year-old suspect was arrested in Mitchells Plain on Monday, for being in possession of stolen property.
The City’s Law Enforcement spokesperson, Wayne Dyason, says
officers responded to a complaint of electrical cables being stripped at a
residence in Lentegeur.
‘’Upon arrival at the property they observed a heap of
cable insulation outside the backdoor of the property. The officers also
noticed a Wendy house on the property. After being given permission to enter,
they found the outer covers of a 132 000V 3 core copper cable. Upon further
inspection a complete 3m piece of 132 000V x 3 core copper cable was found,’’
said Dyason.
The suspect was arrested in terms of the Criminal Matters Amendments
Act and for being in possession of stolen property that belongs to the City of
Cape Town.
The value of the cables is unknown at this stage.
