Teenager behind bars for murder of Eerste River break-dancer, Ruben Jansen

A teenager appeared in the Blue Downs Magistrates’ Court on Friday, in connection with the murder of Eerste River break-dancer, Ruben Jansen a.k.a B-boy Ruben. 

20-year-old Jansen was shot and killed while sitting inside a bakkie with his two friends were left wounded on Sunday.

Police said the suspect was arrested on Thursday.

“Kindly be advised that a 15-year-old male was arrested in connection with the murder on Thursday, 15 August 2024. The suspect will appear in the Blue Downs Magistrates’ court on Friday, 16 August 2024,” said Sergeant Wesley Twigg, Western Cape Police spokesperson.

The case has been postponed to Monday and the suspect, who cannot be named as he is underage, will remain in custody. He faces a charge of murder and two counts of attempted murder.

Meanwhile, hundreds gathered infront of the star’s home on Thursday as a memorial service was held for him.

Jansen will be laid to rest at AFM Church Eerste River on Saturday, 24 August 2024.
