City of Cape Town committed to resolve Samwu strike

The City of Cape Town on Wednesday said it is committed to resolving issues raised by the South African Municipal Workers Union.

This as yesterday the union marched to the CBD over what it deems unresolved grievances with the City including the unfair dismissal of its members and the way they have been treated by the City.

Spokesperson for Mayor Patricia de Lille, Zara Nicholson said from the City’s side the mayor has reiterated that the City is committed to continue to train City management in respect to deal with unions better.

Nicholson added that while at the same, the unions must train their shop stewards to deal with the workers’ complaints and grievances more effectively.
