In Ocean View teenagers under the influence of tik, take their pitbulls out “hunting” for vulnerable targets-canine or human.
A number of residents have been badly in recent weeks and a number of cases of pitbulls entering homes seeking peoples pets have been reported.
One small dog was pulled from under a bed and another was dragged under a gate and had its throat ripped out.
“It’s a new sport in Ocean View,” says Sylvia Shorttreed, a vet at welfare group Tears, who treated dogs that were sodomised by the drug uses as well.
Tik is a huge problem in this area. 200 Rastafarians and community members marched on the homes of tik dealers demanding that they stop.
A new proposed bylaw is being discussed by the City of Cape Town to outlaw the use of dogs to intimidate or threaten people.
