Man safe after trying to save drifting kite at sea

NSRI Spokesperson Craig Lambinon said the NSRI in Kommetjie had to launch their boat after the eye witness reported the kite boarder had left his board on the beach and then swam after his kite which he had lost at sea
Lambinon adds that when NSRI arrived on
scene a surfer was helping the kite boarder to shore and once he was safely ashore
he was in a safe condition and had not sustained any injuries and therefore did
not require any further assistance.
The National Sea Rescue Institute on
Wednesday night was activated following reports of a kite boarder in difficulty
while swimming.
The incident happened between Kommetjie and
Scarborough .

Lambinon Explains that the kite boarder
then got swept away in a rip current experienced and the eye witness then felt
he was in difficulty.
The man’s kite has been lost at sea.
