National
Spokesperson Castro Ngobese said the public disruption of the hearing was never
sanctioned by Numsa or any of its elected leadership.
The National Union
of Metalworkers of South Africa said in a statement that it notes the malicious
statements issued by the National Electricity Regulator of South Africa.
It is alleged that Nersa accused Numsa of
being behind the disruption of its public hearing in Port Elizabeth on Wednesday.
Ngobese said NUMSA
was not part of the discussion and the discussion was not sanctioned by NUMSA but
what they have done as NUMSA was that they had to go outside to listen to the grievances
of the people who actually disrupted the hearing.
Ngobese said that
as NUMSA they agree with the people that NERSA should reconsider convening
these hearings in areas whereby it can be easy accessible by communities so
that they can participate in these hearings and also so that NUMSA solicits all
their views of society.
