WC roadblock statistics

The Western Cape Traffic Department held 12 road blocks across the province last night.

1 966 vehicles were stopped and 823 drivers tested for alcohol. 5 drivers were arrested for drunk driving, with the highest reading 0.68 mg/l.

Another motorist was arrested for driving at 169 km/h in a 120 km/h zone.

WC Traffic Chief Kenny Africa said that they issued R105 300 and 11 487 vehicles were tested for speed.

“We then prosecuted 552 drivers for exceeding the speed limit, the highest speed recorded this weekend so far was 170 km/h in a 120 zone on the N1 between Paarl and Brackenfell” Africa added.
