In a statement issued, the Congress of the People says it is very disappointed to see a surge in racism in the country.

COPE spokesperson Dennis Bloem says the hard work of former President Nelson Mandela and FW de Klerk is being destroyed by the present government.

He adds that Mandela’s vision of a colour blind South Africa, where skin colour would no longer determines ones destiny, is being shuttered by this government. He says racism is destroying.

He concluded that “Leaders must assert that racism will be given no quarter whatsoever, we are Africans, each and every one of us”
