Twenty two people were treated for smoke inhalation and associated symptoms after a fire gutted a shop in an apartment complex in Delver Street, Klerksdorp in the North West Province last night.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Jeff Wicks says it would appear as if the fire started in the shop and quickly spread.

However, fire fighters managed to douse the flames before they could spread to the floors above the shop.
