The Department of State Security says it cannot confirm reports of another Cape Town teenager who was prevented from joining the militant group Islamic State.

It has been reported that the teenager from Grassy Park is allegedly a friend of the 15-year-old girl who was stopped at the Cape Town International Airport last month from boarding a flight to join IS.

Ministerial Spokesperson Brian Dube said they want to put it on record that there is no confirmation that has come from us as the State Security agency regarding a second person that has been stopped trying to go and join ISIS.

“We know of one case which we have reported upon, which is a case we are apparently investigating. The report that has been published online is not factual and therefore we cannot confirm its content.” Dube added.
