Fire in Atlantis informal settlement, Witsands leaves 50 people destitute

A fire in Witsands informal settlements has left about 50 people homeless. 

Fire Services spokesperson Theo Layne said the fire destroyed 13 structures. 

The cause of the fire is still not known an investigation is underway. 

Layne said no injuries were reported however the strong wind conditions contributed towards the rapid spread of the fire.
