The Inkatha Freedom Party in KwaZulu Natal is calling for a full scale forensic audit investigation into public hospital mortuaries in the province.

This follows the arrest of five people who allegedly sold corpses at King Edward Hospital.

IFP Spokesperson for Health Ncamisile Nkwanyana said penalties should be harsher for this kind of syndicate and that time in prison should be doubled.

Nkwanyana added that they are concerned about the issue that some of the workers at Hospital have been arrested due to the selling of corpse

"We are very much concerned about this because if the patient is admitted to the hospital he/she supposed to be taken back home by his/her relatives or any close friend. But if the patient died and decided to sell it, we are very much against that, because some of the people do such a thing and sell it to Inyanga to make some muti."
