The Department of Home Affairs in the Western Cape has announced a change in the working offices hours.

Provincial manager Yusuf Simons said this follows an analysis that the department conducted, which found that there is a higher demand for service delivery in the afternoons and on Saturday, as clients prefer to come at these times and not in the morning.

Simons said we came up with this shift roster because we know it will increase our efficiency because it will allow more staff to be available for our counters in the afternoon and particularly on Saturdays.

“On Saturday what you normally find is about 25% of our staff available, but with these new working hours we will have 50% of our staff on Saturdays available. The new working hours is from 08h00 to 16h00 weekdays, and Saturdays from 08h30 to 12h30” Simon added.

The new working hours will kick in on the 23rd of March 2015.
