South Africans have been slow in coming forward to purchase tickets for the Fifa Confederations Cup and the 2010 World Cup. However, the force to buy the tickets worldwide has been strong.
Local Organising Committee’s Doctor Irvin Khoza says only 20 percent of FIFA Confederations Cup and 2010 World Cup tickets sold so far have been purchased by South Africans.
This means that some 80 percent of tickets sold have gone to people from other countries.
LOC’ s Khoza says more than 506-thousand world-wide online applications for World Cup tickets had been made since ticket applications opened last month.
A total of 170-thousand Confederations Cup tickets had been sold and 646-thousand are still available on a first come, first serve basis
