With the high alarming number of accidents in the country’s roads, SA Roadlink has recently expanded its fleet with nine new luxury coaches bringing the total to over 50.
The new coaches are all reported to seat 72 passengers and are equipped with air-conditioning, heating and an onboard toilet.
These Marco Polo and Volvo coaches were manufactured in Brazil and then the complete units have been imported to South Africa.
The new coaches are numbered from 501-509.
The company’s spokesperson Jonathan Mason says the increase is due to their passenger demand for the affordable luxury travel.
The busses have already started transporting passengers with two of the new coaches operating between Durban and Johannesburg and the remaining seven coaches transporting passengers between Cape Town and Johannesburg.
Mason says the company has also looking in the number of new items to place on coaches to ensure passenger safety.
“One of them is a camera that is going to look at the drivers while they driving and the CCTV cameras inside our coaches,” said Mason.
Recently, SA Roadlink made headlines when their busses involved in accidents and killing more people.
