The provincial Health Department has dismissed reports that the province is facing shortages of free condoms.
Provincial Health spokesperson Faiza Steyn said there was no condom shortage in the province, but acknowledged that the city had received fewer condoms than what they had requested.
City Health director Dr Ivan Bromfield says a target had been set of 60 condoms annually per adult male, but only 49 had been achieved due to inconsistent supply.
“The issue we are facing is due to consistence of condom supply that we get from the national health department”
“We will also have enough condoms for the World AIDS Day activities, said Dr Ivan Bromfield.
