The Democratic Alliance in the Western Cape is expected to hold its Provincial Congress this weekend.
The congress which will elect its provincial leadership with the provincial leader position hotly contested, will take place on Saturday.
The provincial leader seat is contested by MECs Theuns Botha and Lennit Max.
The two stand also against City of Cape Town Mayor Dan Plato as well as chairperson Anton Bredell.
Earlier media reports revealed that race squabbles have been emanating in the DA circles, this after two councillors in the Cape metro region accused party leader Helen Zille of undermining black and coloured members.
The two councillors Frank Martin and Grant Twigg, voiced their unhappiness about what they call the party's soft handling of white transgressors compared to black ones.
They cited alleged leniency by Zille who is also Western Cape Premier, in disciplining Western Cape party head Theuns Botha.
The current leader is Theuns Botha, is running for re-election.
Amongs those who are running for deputy chairperson, is deputy speaker of the provincial parliament Thembekile Majola and chairperson of the education, sport and cultural affairs portfolio committee Jennifer Hartnick.
Standing for provincial treasurer position is Kobus Marais, uncontested.
More than one thousand delegates, all eligible to vote, from the East, West and Metro region are expected to attend the congress.
